Hi! I signed up for the 30 hour famine but it doesn’t say Koinonia on there. It says youth group. Is that right?
Great job everyone! I just visited my cousin who works at World Vision, and I got to go through the office and see all of the different programs that we contribute to. There’s so much need and so much needed to address it!
So thankful that we got to participate in 30 Hour Famine again this year
cute story about our kids. after a bake sale we did, they took the leftovers and went door to door around our neighborhood (3 times) to ask for donations. they would give the baked goods away to people who donated to world vision, and they were able to raise around $200! they were so excited they went on a baking frenzy to bake more goods to give away.
On that Sat afternoon, with a basket of cookies, along with two of our fluent korean speakers in igsm, I stopped by a few korean restaurants/shops in Oakland to ask for donation. There was one lady at a hair salon who did not want to do donation. She said that because of the world cup soccer game that morning, no customer came to her shop for the whole day. Sad… However, despite the heart-breaking defeat of korea by Uruguay on that day, most of the shop owners (even serving people) were generous in donating their money for helping kids in need – we raised $120 from them. I am very grateful to God for their generosity.
