Austin and Taiwan both had their very first discipleship retreats this past weekend. (Austin retreat picture above.) I am just amazed and so thankful as it’s just been one year since we started Austin and two years since we started Taiwan, but the sense of oneness we feel and the atmosphere of the retreats and the churches feels so similar to home. (Not that I was there, I just heard sharings from Sunny/Manny and Cynthia/Eugene.) In Taiwan, they went over the core values of our church, and in Austin, they read some of the same articles we read and watched the Holiness videos by RC Sproul as well.
I wanted to share a video we made for the Hsinchu brothers and sisters to encourage them, as they are part of the 1% of Christians in Taiwan.
I’m so thankful to hear about all that is happening in Austin and Taiwan! The video was very touching and entertaining at the same time (especially Chris and Daniel’s Mandarin!)
wow! how exciting that we had our first discipleship retreats in Austin and in Hsinchu. I’m especially excited for all the xians in Taiwan who will be going to hear God’s word and building the foundation on living this Christian life together. After watching that video, i realized that so many of us are praying for both taiwan and austin as well as have visited. It’s really amazing that we have this kind of closness and oneness despite the distance because of what we’ve experienced through the cross. I’m praying for you guys!
What inspired me the most was Claire’s sharing about Cynthia and her vision for Taiwan during their sophomore year, and now she is there leading our Taiwan church! It inspired me to continue to fan into flame my vision for Taiwan, and that maybe one day God will really take me there.
p.s. I was also inspired by my leader Daniel’s Chinese. Indeed, it’s very Beijing-y. lol
