The first time I set foot into Dana House in Berkeley was my freshman year 20 years ago this fall! Yes, I am old now… We had ice cream sundaes, went around and introduced ourselves with that adjective game and tried to remember each others’ names, then played the store game. Yep, things haven’t changed much. That fall September night years ago, I was struck and drawn in by the warmth and genuineness and authenticity I experienced, made possible by the Gospel lowering barriers, and my heart started to be convinced about the Acts 2 fellowship church dream that I had learned about. I am so thrilled that Gracepoint Fellowship in Austin now has a D-House of our own, to create and build and forge memories and bonds that will last a lifetime, and to inspire young freshmen like I and my peers once were, to commit their lives to advancing God’s kingdom work through our church.

Hello everyone! Greetings from Austin! I just wanted to let you know the exciting news that we finally closed yesterday and received the keys to our new house! (unofficially named, ‘The 605’ after the address in which it is located (605 29 ½ Street) – but check out www.koinoniatexas.org for an ongoing poll on what to name Austin’s version of Dana House. Suggestions on names would be very welcomed!). We just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and of course the financial support for making this purchase possible. Thank you to all the people behind the scenes working to allow us to get the loan as well as the generous sacrifice of many that enabled us to purchase such a place in this economic climate. It is exciting to think that a mere one year later from us arriving in Austin, God would provide such a wonderful place for our brothers to live in and fellowship as well as a place where we can have gatherings and many potential memory-making moments.
Like Dana House in Berkeley, it is 3 stories tall, with the entire top floor being a kitchen, dining room and living room and the 2nd floor being residents. The house has 6 rooms and dorm style bathrooms which is really convenient for the brothers who will be living there. There is also a four car garage! I have attached some pictures and 4 videos to give you a walk through of the house and the surrounding neighborhood. Check it out here: http://gfcaustin.smugmug.com/gallery/9188258_psgUc.
We hope to use this as a hybrid of Dana House and Northloop where we can come to have work nights as well as activities. We are amazed at the timeliness of God’s provision as we were able to get this house just before the Fall semester begins. Things didn’t have to turn out this way but it did and the location of the house is ideal, a mere 2-3 blocks from the north side of campus and a 10 min. casual walk to our TFN location. We hope that many of you can come and experience this house for yourself!
We are grateful to be a part of this community where people are willing and eager to sacrifice to make such things possible and am particularly grateful for the vision of the leadership to even consider getting such a place in the first place.
Thank you again for your support and for the many prayers and for the words of encouragement that so many of you have provided this past year that have enabled us to run this race as co-laborers. We pray that this house will truly be used as a source of blessing for the many people God will bring in the coming year and in the years to come here in Austin! Praise the Lord for His provision!
Indebted,

what an amazing house located in such close proximity to the UT campus! i can’t wait to go there and see it myself
this house is amazing.. excited to see what wonderful stories come out of this one!
what a house! i pray that 605 will be a haven, a place of much joy, bonding, and sweet fellowship with the students at UT…
We are so thankful for God’s provision as well as the generosity of so many back home…as with so many others, Dana House was so instrumental for me in getting to see what Christian life lived out really looks like. The first time I met our church members was at a D-House bbq. I was surprised that these normal people, also went to church, seemed to take the Bible seriously, and were able to have fun along the way too! I pray that the 605 can be just such a place for the UT Austin campus too, 11 years here after I first encountered Dana House.
jpchao: if you come over, we will make you some devastating Texas BBQ =) yeehaw!
It’s so exciting! Praise the Lord!
