Submitted by Emily It was a small group of us (15, which is small for RED-HD!) and it was JUST the perfect sized group. For the students who went, they all had such a good time, and just connected with each of the seniors there. I was proud of Steven, who gave a clear (and vulnerable)
message from John 4 on the Samaritan Woman. It was great that each of us brought whatever we had and just served the seniors for a couple hours, but God used our songs, smiles, hugs, and words to encourage and strengthen the residents there. It was great to see Jaqi halmoni, and see how she’s actively bringing all of her neighbors! She is really doing a ministry in her apt. complex. I was moved esp. through my conversation with Mary, who is 81, but is so active and busy. She is a teacher like me so we had a LOT to talk about – she talks a LOT. She said that it was such a good thing what we were doing, bringing church to us, since it’s harder for some of them to make it out to church regularly. She said that we didn’t seem like those churches that just try to get people’s money, and that we treated them like regular people, rather than having stereotypes of the elderly. I was really thankful our undergrads got the chance to meet and honor Grandma Jaqi (one of the oldest members of Gracepoint Fellowship Church), and in that way, to feel more connected to our church at large and a part of our history! I’m so thankful we can bring hope and joy to them like this.

I’m so thankful for this opportunity as a church to minister to the elderly. btw, RED-HD stands for Ray, Emily, Dave, Hannah and Daniel who are the co-leads for this group.
Our group was just there this past Sunday and it was really good to see Jaqi halmoni. We were very thankful for the chance to bring the church to them.
It was a really heartwarming time. I’m thankful for our elderly care ministry, which brings our Sunday Worship Service to those who can’t make it out on their own. Looking forward to going back!
